Hyderabad
Hyderabad is the capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, in the southern part of India and is known for its rich history, culture and architecture. The city has an estimated population of 4.8 million with the Greater Hyderabad metropolitan area having an estimated population of 8.6 million.

From the 1990's many call centres, business outsourcing facilities, and software firms set up shop here making it one of the largest areas of such business in India. Hyderabad city has become renowned the world over for it's Information Technology, Pharmaceutical and entertainment industries.

Visitors will find the area a mix of Hindu and Muslem cultures where the traditions of North India and South india meet. There are many attractions in the vicinity such as gardens, bazzars, temples, monuments, museums and palaces and some fine cusine. Like most of the major cities in India it is well connected to the rest of India by road and rail networks and domestic air travel. In March 2008 the old airport at Begumpet was closed and it's replacement The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport was opened.

Climate and when to travel
The hot summers from late February to early June are followed by the monsoon season from late June to early October. The best time to visit is probably during the warm winter months from late October to early February. Hyderabad gets about 800mm (32 inches) of rain per year, most of it being concentrated in the monsoon months. The summer temperatures as in most of India will reach over 40°C but winter temperatures remain milder than many other parts.

Flying to Hyderabad
All international flights into Hyderabad will arrive at The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport located near to Shamshabad, about 22 km (14 miles) from the city of Hyderabad and 25 km (19 miles) from Begumpet. The airport began operations on 23rd March 2008 replacing the former international airport of Begumpet.
